The Philippines has officially regained full membership in the World Darts Federation (WDF). The reinstatement was approved by a unanimous vote of WDF member nations during the General Meeting held on September 22 in Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea, where the National Darts Federation of the Philippines (NDFP), led by President Bem Noel and Secretary-General Marvin Orlina, presented the country’s formal application.
Founded in 1974, the WDF is the global governing body for the sport of darts and the organizer of its most prestigious international tournaments. Its mission is to promote and develop darts from grassroots to elite levels, provide a worldwide platform for competition, and uphold the integrity and spirit of the sport. Membership is vital, as it grants players the opportunity to compete in premier events such as the WDF World Cup, while fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among nations. In the years even before the country’s previous WDF membership lapsed, the NDFP has worked tirelessly to sustain and grow the sport across the country. Through its grassroots programs, player development initiatives, and international engagement, the NDFP ensured that Filipino darts remained active and competitive, laying the groundwork for this long-awaited return.
After 16 years, the Philippines is back on the WDF World Cup stage. The prestigious tournament opened September 22 at the KITEX Hall 10 in Korea and will run until September 27. The national team is proudly represented by top darters Lourence Ilagan, Alexis Toylo, Paolo Nebrida, Noel Malicdem, Janice Hinojales, Giselle Bulahao, Aileen Oclarit, and Lovely Mae Orbeta, who are competing against the best in the world.
The country’s renewed membership not only opens international doors for Filipino darters but also reaffirms the Philippines’ commitment to strengthening ties within the global darts community. It highlights the nation’s determination to remain a competitive force in world darts while inspiring the next generation of players at home.
