Christian Perez will skip the PDC Players Championship events 5 and 6 scheduled on March 18th and 19th at Halle 39 in Hildesheim, Germany due to delays on the processing of this Schengen visa application.
Perez who arrived in England last February 9th went straight to play in the opening events of the Players Championship in Wigan. The following week, he travelled to Leicester for the next set of Players Championship events and European Tour qualifiers.
According to Perez, there were two factors that led to this decision. First, the issuance of his UK Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) which is a strict requirement for his visa application, was delayed. Second, there were no immediate and available visa application appointment schedules with the German Embassy in London.
“As soon as I got my BRP, we have been trying to book an appointment for my visa application. Sadly, the earliest appointment date that opened to us was March 19th – which is already the second day of the Players Championship event in Germany”, Perez said.
“The next hurdle is obtaining an approved multiple entry Schengen visa - without it, I cannot play in Germany”, he added. Aside from the Players Championship in March, the other events to be held in Germany are the European Darts Grand Prix from April 19 to 21, the Players Championship 9 & 10 and European Tour Qualifiers from May 6 to 8, the Players Championship 11 & 12 and European Tour Qualifiers from June 11 to 13, and the World Cup of Darts from June 27 to 30.
It has been a whirlwind for Perez since he was granted his UK Sportsperson visa last February 2nd and arrived in England February 9th. “Ambilis ng mga nangyayari. Kapag walang laro, aside from practice, nag-aasikaso ako ng mga requirements para sa visa. Salamat at hindi ako pinapabayaan ng Robson Sportscraft.” (“Things are happening fast. When there are no matches, aside from practice, I work on my visa requirements. I am thankful that Robson Sportscraft is not neglecting my needs.”.
The National Darts Federation of the Philippines hopes and prays for the immediate approval of Christian Perez’ multiple entry Schengen visa application. Let us continue to support our kababayan in his PDC Pro Tour journey.
