Barellano of Davao City and Sheila May Braña of Koronadal
City moved up the NDFP Ranking Points Table after topping the Men's
and Ladies' Singles events, respectively, of the recently concluded
P100,000 Talakudong Open Dart Tournament
held last September 29 to October 1, 2006 at the Tacurong City Gymnasium
at the City Hall Compound in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
Presented by Honorable Mayor Lino O. Montilla and
the local government of Tacurong City, the event was organized by
the Tacurong City Dart Club (TCDC) in cooperation with the South
Cotabato Darters Association (Socodarts) and sanctioned by the National
Dart Foundation of the Philippines (NDFP). Robson Sportscraft provided
the trophies.
The simple Opening Ceremony was highlighted by
the inspirational messages of NDFP President Tito Soncuya and NDFP
Southern Mindanao Regional Manager Jong Gonzales. TCDC President
Dubert Victorio was on hand to welcome the participants and guests.
Classified Draw Doubles
The Classified Draw Doubles was the first event with 80 players
(40 pairs). Jojo Gilsana of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat drew Robson player
Aries Quijano of Cagayan de Oro City and won over Karaan Davao Darters
Association, Inc. (KADDAI) teammates Bryan Tumulak and James Ureta.
Classified Draw Triples
From a field of 69 players (23 teams), Agnor player Vic Castanares
of Butuan City teamed up with Robson player Boie Parfan of Makati
City and Jojo Villegas of Digos City and overwhelmed the troika
of lady darter Naomi Baliola of Davao City, Socodarts player Greg
Lebanan of Koronadal City and Agnor player Dodong Nollora of Butuan
City.
Ladies’ Singles
In the Ladies' Singles event, Socodarts player Sheila May Braña
of Koronadal City, fresh from winning the 3rd Mayor Latasa Cup Ladies'
Singles title, beat North Cotabato Dart Club (NCDC) player Jevie
Curato of Kidapawan City. With her victory, Braña added 24
points to her NDFP Women’s Ranking and claimed the No. 1 position
over Robson player Jan-Jan Hinojales of Davao City.
Men’s Singles
Asia Pacific Cupper Jojo Barellano of Davao City emerged victorious
in a field of 69 players in the Men’s Singles event. Barellano
won over Cotabato City Darters Association (CCDA) player Johnny
Faeldonia of Cotabato City in their exciting finals encounter. With
his victory, Barellano earned an additional 40 points and jumped
from the No. 4 to the No. 2 position in the NDFP Men’s Ranking.
Faeldonia picked up 32 points, enough to land him in a five-way
tie in the No. 9 slot.
Youth Singles
The last day of the tournament began with the Free Registration
Youth Singles event, an on-going NDFP program in all NDFP-sanctioned
and supported tournaments. Dart Federation of Kutawato (DFK) youth
players Tata Sarmiento and Den Lucero, both of Upi, Maguindano,
battled for the title with Sarmiento emerging as the Youth Singles
champion from a field of 16 players.
Fixed-Four Person Team
The Fixed-Four Person Team event drew a total of 18 teams (72 players).
The best of the best team championship saw Agnor Team composed of
Vic Castañares, Dodong Nollora, Mario Saclet and Dixie Ybañez
emerging victorious of DFK - D' Directors 1 composed of Noel Anino,
Jojo Barellano, Pabling Cadungog and Long-Long Longyapon. |
