New Champions in 2005 Robson Dart League 3rd Conference

Persistence plus determination plus teamanship was the winning formula for the veteran teams that emerged as the new champions of the 2005 Robson Dart League 3rd Conference last January 10, 2006 (Tuesday) at Ali Mall in Araneta Center, Quezon City. After playing as a team in previous conferences, second-time participant Alcodarts (Div A), three-time participants MCDO - Knights of Darters 1 (Div B) and Barako Darters (Div C) and four-time participant BT Darters overcame their opponents to claim their respective divisional championships in this dart league organized by the National Dart Foundation of the Philippines (NDFP) and sponsored by Sportshouse and Robson Sportscraft.

After trailing 4-0, Alcodarts of Quezon City proved steadier in the end game as it won the Division A Championship over defending champion Robson Spectra in a hotly contested decision match, 5-4. Pasig 1 took 3rd place over an undermanned Robson K of Caloocan City with a score of 5-3. Edwin Cruz of Robson Spectra received the special awards for the Highest High Out and Highest Double Bull Out while teammate Noel Malicdem bagged the special awards for the Most T80s and the coveted Most Highlights trophy.

In their third finals encounter, MCDO – Knights of Darters 1 of Tañong, Marikina City finally triumphed over ACDC – Stealth Throw 2 of Binondo, Manila with a score of 5-3 to grab the Division B Championship. Ainsmith Darters of Manila won 3rd place against Makati City Darters Association (MDA) 2 with a score of 5-3. MDA 2 player Kenneth Roga received the special awards for the Highest High Out and Highest Double Bull Outs while John Philip Quintano of ACDC – Stealth Throw 2 won the special awards for Most T80s and the Most Highlights trophy.

Three-time participant Barako Darters of SSS prevailed over U.P. Darters 2 of Quezon City, 5-2, to capture the Division C Championship. In the battle for 3rd / 4th place, Tumpukan of Calumpang, Marikina City won over Philpost – NCR 1 (2), 5-1. The special awards for the Highest High Out and Highest Double Bull Out went to K Darts 2 teammates Emil Siya and Bobby Barredo, respectively, while Michael Francisco of Tumpukan and Sonny Santos of Precise tied for the special award for Most T80s. Sam Manalo of champion team Barako Darters received the coveted Most Highlights trophy.

In Division D, four-time participant BT Darters of Balut, Tondo, Manila defeated MCDO – Knights of Darters 2 with a score of 5-2 to grab the divisional championship. Bochaww of Navotas overpowered Amazing of Pitogo, Makati City, 5-0 to win 3rd place. Youth player Junmar David of ACDC – District III received the special award for Most High Outs while Buboy Ramos of MCDO – Knights of Darters 2 received the special award for Highest Double Bull Out. Rommel Frias of Rakers 2 and Mario Pable of Manea Darters 2 tied for the special award for Most T80s. The coveted Most Highlights trophy went to Glenn Buenaventura of champion team BT Darters.

Special awards were likewise given to six (6) individuals who achieved a Triple Highlight (High Score, High Out and Double Bull Out). These were Edwin Cruz of Robson Spectra in Division A, Kenneth Roga of MDA 2 and Glenn Romero of MCDO – Knights of Darters 1 in Division B, Bobby Barredo of K Darts 2 in Division C and youth player RJ Esparagoza of ACDC – District III and Buboy Ramos of MCDO – Knights of Darters 2 in Division D.

All teams took home a share in the prize money based on the points they won during the entire conference in this unique money-in, money-out dart league. Aside from the cash prize, Sportshouse awarded gift certificates worth P2,000 to the champion, P1,000 to the 2nd place and P5,000 to the 3rd place in each division plus gift packs while Robson Sportscraft awarded all the team and individual trophies and special awards.

In a related development, the 2006 Robson Dart League 1st Conference is tentatively set to start on January 24, 2006 at Ali Mall (3/F Activity Center), Araneta Center, Quezon City.
