Dixie Ibanez of
Ozamis City, playing under the banner of “The One”,
won the P100,000 Tinalak Open Singles, last July 18, 2010 in Koronadal
City. Dixie is back, in his winning form, after capturing the Open
Singles title of the P75,000 Mayor Sammy Co Araw ng Pagadian Open
last June 20, 2010. With his wins, Dixie is now the 11th ranked
player in the NDFP Ranking.
The P100,000 Tinalak Open was organized by the South Cotabato Darters
(SOCODARTS) in cooperation with the Hon. Governor Dodo Pingoy of
South Cotabato. The tournament was spearheaded by SOCODARTS President
Budz Yap, ably supported by Alvin Alejano and inspired by Koronadal
based MADF President Jong Gonzales.
The tournament opened with the participation of 110 players in the
Classified Draw Doubles. Players came from the growing dart communities
of Isulan and Tacurong of Sultan Kudarat, and the cities of Gensan,
Davao, Cotabato, Kidapawan, host city of Koronadal and far flung
cities of Cagayan de Oro, Ozamis, and Butuan. Arnel Elvena of Socodarts
and Mark Munoz, who used to be with ACDC of Tondo and now plays
for FDAMDI of Davao City, won the Draw Doubles over Mark Palad of
FDAMDI-Fundador and Lando Cabusas of TACDA, Tacurong City.
Agendarts of Alain Commendador, Bobot Tubianosa, Glen de los Reyes
and Alain Abiabi, finally lived to its potential and won the Fix
Four-Person Championship over Robson of Ian Perez, Bert Lozano,
Jong Gonzales and Bruce Perez in a nerve racking decision game.
Players of AGENDARTS, General Santos City are blessed by the weekly
P10,000 tournaments in GenSan sponsored by Congressman Manny Paquiao.
In the Open Singles, Dixie Ibanez overpowered Bebot Mangle of Davao
City 4-1. Rounding the top 4 were Bert Lozano of Robson-CDO and
Nonoy Lorana of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat. The top 8 were dominated
by Agendarts players of Pabling Cadungog, Alain Abiabi, Bobot Tubianosa
and Jun Espinola of The One, CDO.
In other events, the champions of the Classified Draw Triples were
Dixie Ibanez, Bong Gabiano of NCDC, Kidapawan City, and Kenneth
Bawdin of DFK, Cotabato City. Ann Awitan of The One, CDO won the
Ladies Singles over May Flor Rarcon of NCDC, Kidapawan City. Youth
Singles went to JR Tauro of Sultan Kudarat over Kenneth Bawdin of
DFK, Cotabato City.
The Southern / Central Mindanao area is one of the fastest growing
