Balikbayan Ding Arduo, Vice President - Internal
of the United Filipino Darts Club (UFDC) based in Abu Dhabi, United
Arab Emirates, teamed up with Toks Seduco of Makati City to win
the P12,000 Classified Draw Doubles Dart Tournament
of the Rotary International District 3800 Chess and Dart Tournament
held at Common Room Bar and Restaurant located along Gil Fernando
Ave. (formerly A. Tuazon Ave.), San Roque, Marikina City last Sunday,
April 9, 2006.

“Mickey” M. Ortigas, Jr. and Charter President Arturo
“Art” C. Arrojado of host club RC River City Marikina,
the tournament was supported by the Marikina City Dart Organization
(MCDO), the National Dart Foundation of the Philippines (NDFP),
Robson Sportscraft and Common Room Bar and Restaurant.
Arduo and Seduco beat the tandem of Ching Saez
(Terton) and Jay-Ar San Juan (United Darters of Taytay) in their
exciting finals encounter. Going into the finals, Saez and San Juan
had the twice-to-beat advantage after topping the winners’
bracket. However, Arduo and Seduco overwhelmed Saez and San Juan
in their best of three encounter and eventually reigned supreme
over a field of ninety (90) participants after Arduo took the winning
shot in their final game.

Prior
to the start of the tournament, Rotary host club RC River City Marikina
held a short program. Club Service I Director Esmer Tepace welcomed
the participants and CP Art Arrojado thanked the participants for
supporting the project. In return, NDFP President Tito Soncuya thanked
the Rotary Club for organizing the dart tournament and challenged
Rotary Clubs of the Marikina Zone to organize a bigger dart event.
Mr. Soncuya then took the opportunity to award a special prize to
10-year old Theo Lualhati, the youngest darter in the recently concluded
four-person dart league dubbed as the 2nd Joric Cup Darts Classic
of the United Darters of Taytay (UDT). Finally, RC River City Marikina
President Bojo Mijares declared the tournament open.
Earlier in the day, dart fun games for Rotarians
and their families and Rotaract and Interact members were also conducted
under the supervision of the MCDO and NDFP officials. Bringing home
their own dart trophies were:

With the success of the tournament, RC River City
Marikina is looking into the possibility of staging the event yearly
and of organizing a bigger dart tournament in the near future under
the auspices of Rotary International District 3800.
