The
P100,000 Mindanao Open 2007, organized
by Socodarts (South Cotabato Darters) led by President
Budz Yap in cooperation with the Mindanao Archipelago
Dart Federation (MADF) under the leadership of Jong
Gonzales, and supported by the National Dart Foundation
of the Philippines (NDFP), was a resounding success.
The NDFP Ranking Event held in Food Harbor, Koronadal
City last July 28-29, 2007 drew players from all over
Mindanao.
Open Singles
Dodong Nollora, of Butuan City, playing under the banner
of the Guia Mamogkat’s DFK Directors, won the
Mindano Open Singles event, his first NDFP singles championship.
With his win, Nollora grabbed the number spot in the
NDFP Ranking points.
Nollora overpowered Ian Perez of Robson-Mindano, after
Perez beat Dixie Ibanez of Cagayan de Oro in an exciting
down the wire decision match. Nollora won over Bobot
Estrellan of GenSan in the other semi-final match. The
joint 5th to 8th placers were: Boie Parfan (Robson),
Bong Ariego of CCDA, Bebot Mangle and Sonny Balagat
of Karaan-Davao City

Ladies’ Singles
Janjan Hinojales of Robson-Davao again stamped her class
in the Ladies’ Singles beating Sheila Brana of
Koronadal. Juvie Curato, NCDA and Lorna Quibuyen of
DFK settled for joint 3rd/4th.

Youth Singles
Tata Sarmiento of Upi, Shariff Kabunsuan won the Youth
Singles beating Arvin Mark Asenista of Notre Dame, Marbel.
Joint 3rd/4th placers were Kenneth John Baudin of Notre
Dame, Cotabato City and Dyeke Bon Gecosala of Upi.

Fixed Three Person Team
Team Robson, led by Janjan Hinojales, Ian Perez and
Boie Parfan, emerged surprise champions in the Open
Fixed Triples. Up and coming players from Socodarts
came in second with Bryan de Decena, Juvic Lechonsito
and Paul Corros.

Draw Doubles
Mark Palad of Cagayan de Oro and Bryan Decena of Socodarts
beat the tandem of Karaan-Davao players Bebot Mangle
and Rudy Noynay for the Doubles Championship. Joint
3rd and 4th were Alain Commendador of GenSan paired
with Jevie Curato of Kidapawan and Pabling Cadunong
of DFK Directors and Jun Espanola of Cagayan de Oro.

MADF Mindanao Selection
Prelude to the Mindanao Open, July 26-27, was the MADF
organized Mindanao Selection. The objective of the two-day
round robin selection is to sponsor and support two
(2) winners to the Philippine Qualifier of the World
Darts Championship in Manila. According to Jong Gonzales,
President of MADF, “the selection is to give a
chance for the top Mindanao darters to compete nationally
through the support of the federation”.
Ian Perez topped the selection and Jecele Rosales of
Davao Karaan came in second, while Socodarts players
Bryan Decena and Arnel Elevena came in 3rd and 4th.
