The
9th edition of the free-registration Darterong Pinoy and the 14th
overall was held last October 21-13, 2011 at the Sta Lucia Mall
in the midst of an overwhelming participation of players from Luzon,
Visayas, and Mindanao. Total player registration in all events reached
a record 2,118, establishing the Darterong Pinoy as the most attended
yearly dart tournament nationwide.
National Darts Federation of the Philippines (NDFP) once again showed
its organizing leadership in elevating the standards of Philippine
darts and inspiring the lives and aspiration of darters.

The Fix-4 Person Team Event was the most attended event with a record
breaking participation of 125 teams with 500 players. Team Robson
Razor’s Ian Perez, Boie Parfan, Noel Malicdem, and Ricky Mijares
won 4-1 over Team Dominic’s Boy Ulang, Bobby Concepcion, Chris
Salinas, and Angelo Naya.
The Open Singles was the most attended Open Singles ever with 311
players. Ian Perez of Robson –Marbel beat Willy Omli of Baguio
City in a down-the-wire decision game 4-3 in the finals. Defending
champion and 2 years consecutive champion Lourence Ilagan came in
joint 3rd and 4th with PJ Jugo of Dominics.
The Ladies Singles with 46 players saw the come-back of Jan Hinojales
of Robson- Davao City, regaining her old form and beating Siony
Laluan of Baguio City with a score of 4-2. Rounding the top 4 are
Nancy de la Cruz of Makati City Dart Association and Kristine Calderon
of Team One Phil.
The most surprising event is the Seniors Singles with the participation
of 117 players. These are for players 45 years old and over. The
event saw the old time “balik-darters” seriously in
action which was won by 48 year-old Darren Liwanag of Digos City,
Davao del Sur, a 1982 national champion. Last year’s runner-up
Jerie Santos of Taguig Darts Club again came in 2nd. Jun Beron and
Ronron Rona came in joint 3rd and 4th.
The Fix-Doubles with 280 players was won by Lourence Ilagan and
Robert Calumpit of Gunners over Yoko Quillope and Colot Pedroza
of CHEDA, Cebu City. Team Robson’s Ian Perez - Ricky Mijares
and Team Eribal’s Bryan Eribal - Alvin Malilin came in joint
3rd and 4th.
The Youth Singles (16 years old and below) with 41 participants
was won by Leonardo Silverio of Mandaluyong Associations of Darters
(MAD) over Jumel Baroman of Makati City Dart Association (MCDA)
- WRUD. Players from Batangas United Darters (BUD) Hyginus Dee Alea
and Zambales Darters Federation (ZDF) Kenneth Francisco came in
joint 3rd and 4th.
The Youth Singles (16-19 years old) saw the participation of 47
players. Greg Academia of Tondo prevailed over Jhandy Ramos of Antipolo.
Pable Hebrida, (ZDF) and Riege Villanueva (BUD) rounded up the top
4 slots.
The opening day Classified Draw Doubles with 398 players was won
by Jerry Suerto (Olongapo City) and Jaymar Jayubo (MCDA-WRUD) over
Ricky Mijares (Robson) and Nancy de la Cruz (MCDA).
The Classified Draw Triples drew 378 players and was won by Al de
Ocampo (Mosant), Jemel Modesto (E-Darts) and Manny Buenviaje (Taytay)
over Rey Layug (Dau-Pampanga), Minko Magtulis (Navotas) and Henry
Salas of MCDO.
