Successful P110,000 Free Registration Darterong Pinoy 2010
The Second Biggest Organized Dart Tournament in the Philippines

The National Darts Federation of the Philippines once again organized a record breaking attendance in the P110,000 Free Registration Darterong Pinoy 2010 held at the Sta. Lucia Mall from November 12 to 14. It was the biggest dart tournament in Metro Manila and the second biggest dart tournament in the history of Philippine dart tournaments, 2nd only to the 5 Million Manny Pacquiao International Dart Classic in General Santos City in 2009.

This year’s Darterong Pinoy drew the participation of 1,991 player registrations in all events, setting new registration records in the Open Singles with 310 players, Fix 4-Person Team with 496 players, and the Youth Singles with 83 players. Other events saw the registration of 428 in the Classified Draw Doubles, 306 in the Fix Doubles, 261 in the Draw Triples, 69 in the Seniors and 38 players in the Ladies Singles.

Partners in darts, Christ Sports and Robson Sportscraft once again presented the event, in cooperation with media partners: The Manila Bulletin, Sports Digest, and Solar Sports; and supported by Sta. Lucia Mall, venue sponsor; Razor, the official tournament dartboard; the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and The Peninsula Manila.

One of the key drivers to the overwhelming success of Darterong Pinoy 2010 is the spacious Basement Activity Area provided by the Sta. Lucia Mall. The new location greatly enhanced the splendor and radiance of the set up, offered a relaxed and comfortable environment, and induced the competitiveness of darters. Darterong Pinoy exceeded the boundaries of a competitive dart arena to be a big social gathering that is a mixture of family dart kinship and renewal of friendship.

Most darters were convinced that this is the best set up ever in a Metro Manila dart tournament, and truly reflects the aspirations of the National Darts Federation of the Philippines in attaining a higher standard of dart excellence.

This year’s Darterong Pinoy spectrum was evenly represented from the hobbyists, garage throwers, dart enthusiasts, seniors, ladies, youth and the hard core darters. There were a lot of Metro Manila darters who played for the first time in a tournament setting. The tournament also saw the influx of younger players with a record breaking participation of the youth darters.
Moreover, Darterong Pinoy 2010’s success is attributed to the active support and participation of the various NDFP affiliated dart organizations that trooped in planes and buses to Cainta, from as far as Baguio City and Davao City.

The bigger delegations were led by a chartered bus hired by Zambales Darters Federation president Butch Echeverri; two coasters from the Bicol Dart Federation led by federation president Fiscal Tony Fajardo of Bao Camarines Sur, and ably supported by players from Daet.

The Southern Luzon delegation came in strong from the Integrated Dart Organizations of Laguna, Batangas United Darters, Dart Team Lucena - Quezon, Dart Team Sariaya and Lucena City Dart Association.

Northern Luzon was led by the contingent from BBDO of Baguio City, Dagupan Dart Club, and Bulacan Darters led by the Baliwag Darts Club. CHEDA president Bert Colong led the Cebu darters, and FDAMDI president Boy Gludo managed the darters from Davao City.
The biggest delegations from Metro Manila came from the Makati City Dart Association and the Marikina City Dart Organization supported by the Taguig Dart Club, and the venue dart clubs of Cue Verandz and Bull House.

This inspiring support is a testimony to the fulfillment of NDFP’s battle cry, and that indeed – IN DARTS WE UNITE.
