Burlington player Lourence
Ilagan swept the Open Singles and the Classified Draw Doubles events
of the Chris Sports P20,000 Christmas Dart Special 2006
held last December 30, 2006 at Chad's Bar (formerly Common Room
Bar and Café) in Marikina City.
Ilagan reigned supreme in a field of fifty-three
(53) players after beating United Darters of Taytay (UDT) stalwart
and Robson player Orlan Bernardino in their finals encounter, 3-1.
With the win, Ilagan earned eight (8) NDFP Performance Points. On
the other hand, Bernardino earned six (6) points, pushing him to
the Top 16 in the Men's Ranking.
In the Classified Draw Doubles event, Ilagan
teamed up with Marikina City Dart Organization (MCDO) player David
Mumar to beat the tandem of Banny Alagar of Antipolo City and U.P.
Darters' Jojo Estrella. Going into the finals, Alagar and Estrella
had the twice-to-beat advantage after topping the winners’
bracket. However, Ilagan and Mumar won in their best of three encounter
to force the deciding 701, single game. Ilagan and Mumar eventually
grabbed the event from a filed of forty-seven (47) pairs.
The event was presented by
Chris Sports and supported by Robson Sportscraft and Chad's Bar.
It was organized and sanctioned by the National Dart Foundation
of the Philippines (NDFP).
