After
the success of the initial Barangay Bel-Air Dart Festival, the Sanguniang
Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Bel-Air, led by Jerick Siy and Karen Mendoza,
has once again tapped the services of the National Dart Foundation
of the Philippines (NDFP) for the Barangay Bel-Air Dart
Festival 2007 to be held on NMarch 31 to April 1,
2007 at the Barangay Bel-Air Basketball Court in Bel-Air, Makati
City.
The SK Dart Festival starts on March 31 (Saturday)
at 11:00 AM with the Tusok Aral, a dart clinic presented
by the NDFP through a Power Point presentation on the technical
and mental skills to better understand, improve, win and enjoy playing
darts. The Tusok Aral also includes understanding your choice of
dart equipment, its aerodynamic implications and the dart improvement
programs to increase darting proficiency. Dart exhibition matches
of national players, dart video showing of international matches
and hands-on darts instructional sessions have alos been scheduled
on this day.
The SK Barangay Dart Festival ends with three Divisional
Dart Tournaments for Residents, for Employees and for the Youth
on April 1 (Sunday). Tournament registration starts at 10:00 AM
for the Draw Triples 501 event wherein players will be drawn to
form three-person teams. This format is less intimidating to the
novice / beginners and an entry event to competitive dart environment.
Prizes and trophies await the winners. The Youth Division is open
to players 15-years old and below while the Employees' Division
is open to BAVA and Barangay Bel-Air employees only. Participants
must bring their ID as proof of eligibility.
The SK Bel-Air project shows a serious effort to
understand and appreciate the sport of darts. This also complements
the thrust and the vision of the NDFP to professionally propagate
the sports of darts, to support the youth dart development programs
and to interact with the local government units (LGU’s) to
expand the base of dart players.
This Dart Festival hopes to promote camaraderie
among dart enthusiasts in the Bel-Air area, to serve as a model
dart project and spur other SK units in the different barangays
to embark on such projects and to gain the support of their local
government units.
