The
Sanguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Bel-Air, led by Jerick Siy
and Karen Mendoza, tapped the services of the National Dart Foundation
of the Philippines (NDFP) to launch a Barangay Dart
Festival at their Barangay Hall on July 7 to 9, 2006.
The SK Dart Festival starts on July 7 at 5:30 PM
with the Tusok Aral, a dart clinic presented by the NDFP through
a Power Point presentation on the technical and mental skills to
better understand, improve, win and enjoy playing darts. The Tusok
Aral also includes understanding your choice of dart equipment,
its aerodynamic implications and the dart improvement programs to
increase darting proficiency.
Dart exhibition matches of national players, dart
video showing of international matches and hands-on darts instructional
sessions are scheduled on Saturday, July 8, at 1:00 PM.
The SK Barangay Dart Festival ends with three Divisional
Dart Tournaments for Residents, for Employees and for the Youth
on Sunday, July 9, 2006. Tournament registration starts at 10:00
AM for the Draw Triples 501 event wherein players will be drawn
to form three-person teams. This format is less intimidating to
the novice / beginners and an entry event to competitive dart environment.
Cash prizes and trophies await the winners. If you live and work
in Barangay Bel-Air, come and join this unique SK Barangay Dart
Festival.
The SK Bel-Air project shows a serious effort to
understand and appreciate the sport of darts. This also complements
the thrust and the vision of the NDFP to professionally propagate
the sports of darts, to support the youth dart development programs
and to interact with the local government units (LGU’s) to
expand the base of dart players.
This Dart Festival hopes to promote camaraderie
among dart enthusiasts in the Bel-Air area, to serve as a model
dart project and spur other SK units in the different barangays
to embark on such projects and to gain the support of their local
government units.
