The Philippines’ top darting duo, Lourence “The Gunner” Ilagan and Paolo “Pow” Nebrida, returned to Manila today after a valiant campaign at the 2025 BetVictor World Cup of Darts held in Frankfurt, Germany. Their performance brought pride to the country and marked another significant step forward for Philippine darts on the global stage.
The pair, representing the Philippines among 40 competing nations, stunned the darting world during the group stage. After dispatching Latvia with a confident 4–2 victory, Ilagan and Nebrida pulled off one of the tournament’s biggest upsets — a dramatic 4–3 comeback win against Belgium. Down 0–3, the Filipino duo clawed back to win four straight legs, with Nebrida hitting all four crucial doubles. The win sent shockwaves through the event and secured the Philippines’ place in the knockout stage, topping Group B over higher-seeded Belgium.
In the second round, they faced a formidable Welsh team composed of Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton. Despite a spirited effort, the Philippines bowed out with a score of 2–8, concluding their impressive run.
The Philippine team extended heartfelt thanks to their sponsors and supporters, including Robson Sportscraft, Overtime Sports Bar, Robson Plus Flights, One80, Rost Flight, Box II, the National Darts Federation of the Philippines (NDFP), and fans who cheered them on throughout the tournament.
Their performance earned respect from international competitors and further strengthened the Philippines’ growing reputation in the global darts community. With continued support and momentum, both Ilagan and Nebrida look forward to competing in upcoming PDC Asian Tour events and other international tournaments. As the pair settle back home, their World Cup run will be remembered not just for results, but for the heart, grit, and passion they showed on the world stage — proving once again that Filipino darters belong among the best.
