Manny Pacquiao is an avid darter with an unusual passion for the sport. He believes Filipino darters have the potential to make a name in the international dart scene with the right support and exposure. In pursuit of his belief, he sponsored the biggest tournaments of 2008 with the Pacman Cup l and ll of P300,000 each in August and September. Manny hopes to further inspire Filipino darters to train, to strive for excellence and to compete with the best international players by launching the richest dart tournament in the history of Philippine darts the 2M International Darts Classic.

The NDFP has been entrusted by Manny Pacquiao to organize and to promote this tournament. Aside from the expected five hundred (500) national and international participants that will compete, we intend to carry his message across the nation with a one hour TV special of the event, thirty (30) press releases and at least eight-four (84) TV plugs for the event highlighting his faith in the potential of the Filipino darter.

The Manny Pacquiao 2M International Darts Classic, the richest dart tournament in the history of Philippine darts is all set to go.

Despite his rigid training schedule for his upcoming fight with Oscar de la Hoya, Manny Pacquiao takes time out to be updated with the status of the tournament. In fact, he personally chose the picture that will come out with some of the event collaterals. This is an excellent assurance of Manny’s continuing support for the tournament.

To assure the success of the tournament, NDFP President Tito Soncuya visited General Santos City to coordinate with Agendarts and MADF for the smooth running of the tournament. They visited the Lagao Gymnasium, an air-conditioned gym and a first-class venue for darts. This is where the SocSarGen Marlins use to play in the MBA League. The venue can easily and comfortably accommodate the expected 400-500 national and international dart players. The layout was drawn for the 44 dartboard set-up, food areas, tournament directors table and a host of other preparations.

LAGAO AIR-CONDITIONED GYMNASIUM

They paid a courtesy call to Mayor Pedro Acharon of General Santos City. The City of Gensan is throwing its full support to the success of the tournament. Agendarts, led by President Alain Comendador , Arnel Lautengco and Bobot Estrellan, is the host dart organization that will oversee the construction of the dart stands and identify the food and drinks providers. MADF President Jong Gonzales was on hand to coordinate the support network of Mindanao.

To ensure the convenience of visiting darters, Tito visited the various hotels and secured special darters discount on some of them. Attached herein is the list of hotels, their rates and contact numbers.

To guarantee the highest level of tournament director professionalism, NDFP National Tournament Director Rommel Escobil will be the tournament director of the tournament.

A Grand Reunion of darters is in the offing. The NDFP Middle East is sending 2 teams for the Four-Man Team Championship led by NDFP coordinator Ronel Botor, UFDC President Ding Arduo, Joseph Domanais, Gerry Flores and Joel Hizon. Gale Santos is set to make a comeback along with a host of balikdarters. Nationwide dart players from Baguio to Basilan are expected to play. Malaysian and Singapore players are also planning to participate.
